The SND Annual Workshop & Exhibition is headed to Chicago this year from will April 4-6, 2019 where attendees will celebrate all things design in the city where the very first Society for News Design workshop was held 40 years ago in 1979.
I am doing to help coach teams at a special day-long program for students and educators planned on Thursday, April 4. Some highlights from the agenda:
- An introduction to design thinking by Knight Lab
- A roundtable discussion with creative directors and product leaders
- Student portfolio and self-promotion reviews
- Strategies for landing your first job
You can learn more about the event and how to register here.
On Friday April 5, I want to offer myself as a resource to folks considering (or already on) a journey to becoming a UX Researcher, or Design Researcher.
My journey is not a traditional one. I didn’t study social science in college. I studied print journalism. Then, I went on to get my masters in journalism administration. Now, I have 10+ years of experience as a UX Researcher. I’ve spent a ton of time with journalists and designers over the years evangelizing human-centered design.
You can learn more about my journey and view case studies at lauracochran.design.
If you will be in Chicago April 5 and want to chat, let’s do it!
